NeilPryde-Cyclone rider, Wang Yip Tang, takes the win at the 4th Shenzhen Bicycle Carnival

The 4th Shenzhen Bicycle Carnival was held from 9-11 December 2011 at Longgang Velodrome, Shenzhen, China. During the festive weekend the International Open Road Race took place with teams from across Asia lining up on the start line.

The main race was planned for 10 laps around an 8.5km loop but was finally reduced to 8 laps. Lewis Fellas, from Hong Kong’s Racing Force, set the early pace and made a solo breakaway while the peloton was pulled along with some hard riding by Gary Loafman from the Lightning Team.

Into the 2nd lap, the early leaders were pulled back and then attacked as Chang Shao Dong first took over the lead and then established a 50 seconds lead. Chang’s lead lasted until the 4th lap when Chang Li from the China Attack went off the front.

For the next few laps several riders rotated at the front of the peloton as others started to get spat out the back with the pace heating up. With 1 lap to go NeilPryde-Cyclone rider Wang Yip Tang launched an attack from nowhere to take the lead. This proved to be the decisive move as he put down the hammer and took the win in a time of 01:46:08.
