Experience the pure, unrestrained thrill of the NAZARÉ2 aero road bike. Its elegantly engineered form delivers instant response balanced with wind-cheating aerodynamics.

A true descendant of the award winning NAZARÉ, NAZARÉ2 embraces its distinctive sense of purpose while reducing drag and improving responsiveness and agility.

Each new NEILPRYDE bike starts with a clear target in mind, a bike which we believe is a segment leader. Our design goal is to surpass the performance of that target and launch a new model that exceeds our discerning customers’ expectations.

For NAZARÉ2, we looked within, setting out to develop a new aero road bike that surpassed the aerodynamics, responsiveness and race-proven pedigree of the NAZARÉ. But before taking pencil to the paper, we took an eraser. A clean sheet of paper led to a very different design. It’s this philosophy that has resulted in not just a model update, but an entirely new bike.

To achieve our aerodynamic goals for the NAZARÉ2 we examined each tube and joint, dissecting how they interacted with the relative airflow at this point of the frame, modified the design and engineered a significantly faster frame.

NAZARÉ2 benefits from the use of NEILPRYDE’s C6.9 ultra-high modulus carbon fiber. This allowed us to create one of the lightest, aero road bikes, tipping the scales at 920g.

NAZARÉ2 continues to use OTP Aerodynamic tube profiles and extended Kamm-tail design. First developed for the NAZARÉ by BMW Group DesignworksUSA, they still proved to be the most efficient designs for managing airflow and reducing drag through a wide range of wind yaw angles.

Other performance improvements include the use of Shimano’s aerodynamic direct mount brakes on the front fork and under the bottom bracket, internal cable routing and Di2 battery mount, an integrated seat post clamp, and the adoption of the stiffer Press Fit 86 bottom bracket standard.

June 2015

"The Nazaré 2 seems to have that ability to maintain a relatively high speed, as though it wants its rider to be going as fast as possible."

"...we don't have a wind tunnel but, damn, the Nazaré2 just feels quick. The slippery shapes are clearly at play here, but the bike's weight and stiffness also play a roll."

Aerodynamic Performance

  • Traditional 3:1 airfoil in redesigned head tube manages laminar airflow. Lengthened head tube reduces drag.

  • Integrated fork runs smoothly into lowered down tube to reduce turbulence from rotating front wheel. Shimano Direct Mount front brake further reduces drag.

  • Down tube has been lowered to reduce gap with front wheel
Airfoil shape combining a blunt leading edge with a longer trailing edge cleans up the turbulent airflow coming from the fork and rotating front wheel.

  • Kammtail airfoil, with a wide and truncated tail, combined with a narrower seat tube creates an extended virtual airfoil and results in a more aerodynamic and stiffer bottom bracket.

  • Shimano Direct Mount aero rear brake located behind bottom bracket.

Power Transfer

Press Fit 86 bottom bracket combined with NeilPryde’s proprietary PU Molding process and One-piece Stays design result in increased power transfer through rear triangle

BENCHMARKING

NAZARÉ2 builds on the already impressive performance of the race-proven NAZARÉ, reducing aerodynamic drag by up to 20%.

The first diagram shows drag reduction across a range of wind yaw angles.

Each section of the NAZARÉ2 frame has been designed to manage airflow more efficiently, through a wide range of wind angles, taking into consideration how the frame interacts with the wheels and components, and their effect on the upstream airflow. The separation of the lines in both graphs shows how the drag on the NAZARÉ2 is significantly reduced as the airflow travels along the length of the complete bikes.

NAZARÉ and NAZARÉ2 comparison at A2 Wind Tunnel 40km/hr 5° Yaw increments. Measurable advantage of between 9.27 - 19.90%
